Getting What We've Paid For
Kidzone24 and Heartland are two channels that TVNZ compiles exclusively for SkyTV. Both channels feature a lot of great NZ made television.
Kidzone24 plays kids programmes which are mostly repeats from TVNZ 6 Kidzone before the government pulled its funding. Heartland features repeats of popular Kiwi telly from the archives – Intrepid Journeys to Mucking In with documentaries, arts shows and a bit of reality television thrown in.
Many of the much-loved shows and genres that have disappeared from the free-to-air networks have resurfaced here behind the SkyTV paywall. As taxpayers we've already paid to make the programmes with NZ on Air funding. Why must we pay a second time?
The CBB opposes placing publicly funded content behind private paywalls and asks that channels like Heartland and Kidzone24 be made available to all on Freeview.
